Music Makes Life - LIFE!

In the beginning ...

RAMEKEGA is the band name for the prolific singers/songwriters comprising of sisters: Melissa, Kelli, and Gabrielle Pozon.  The group was formed when the girls were inspired to make a tribute CD to a beloved member of their family.  In February 2002, they lost their baby brother, William, to SIDS - he was only three and a half days old.  And, four years after bidding farewell to their little brother - on November 07, 2006 - the girls also bid farewell to their mother, Marie.  One of the most important pillars of their lives, her Homegoing would, also, prove to be a turning point in their lives..

RAMEKEGA was officially formed in New York in May 2007, where they were asked to sing a local church.  Then, the group was made up of Rachel, Melissa, Kelli, and Gabrielle; hence, the name RaMeKeGa (pronounced: rah-me-kay-gah).  Their first public performance as a band occurred on July 2007 at The Node (Norwalk); and, they finished their 11-song set to an standing ovation - and after two requests for an "encore".  That brief introduction was the impetus for their first CD, "It's Like Heaven" - recorded, mixed and mastered by their dad at the church office.  Using everything he could get his hands on, the album was put together using a mixer, a vcr, a camcorder, and a borrowed laptop - for burning CD-Rs!

In September 2007, the eldest member of the group - Rachel - decided to return to school; but continues to take on new solo projects.  RAMEKEGA is now the trio consisting of Melissa, Kelli and Gabrielle.  The group is currently making plans to release their debut album; and is being self-released through Wild Saint Records.

The name RAMEKEGA (pronounced "RAH-ME-KAY-GAH") is derived from the first 2 letters of the girls' first names ...  RAchel, MElissa, KElli, and GAbrielle (we know you guessed that one).  It was the login ID the girls' dad had used for a game they used to play as children.

The journey has been a testament of God's faithfulness.  RAMEKEGA signed with Wild Saint Records on a non-exclusive deal; and retain their independent artists status.  Their first album - remastered since it's first release - was recorded wholly in analog; and remains the quintessential RAMEKEGA sound.  That is, it retains that sense of vibrant urgency immediately apparent in an indie undertaking.  A critic described their music as Electric Eclectic!!!

RAMEKEGA continues to pursue their brand of music with a zeal that is unapologetic, and they have set their sights on the main objective:  to honor God, their parents, their family, and their friends - one step, one act, and one day at a time. As for being songwriters:  "We don't think of ourselves as songwriters, we just take dictations from God ... and what He gives us, we do our utmost to write down, and to be faithful; from there on in, anything can happen.  He's a VERY good singer!"
